The Start of Something Good
This blog was created in preparation for an upcoming trip I am taking to New York City. While there, I will be learning about the history of the city through the study of biographies as well as from people who know their stuff. This is all part of a class I've been taking called " Teaching History Through Biography". Prior to taking this class, I had never read a biography. Since taking this class, I have read so many biographies, I can't even keep track of them! Before I took this class, I thought history was kinda boring. Now, I think history rocks! What changed my mind? The realization that history is nothing but a collection of stories, not facts. When history is learned from the telling of stories, it becomes fun and interesting. Everyone loves a good story; that's why I'm sharing mine in this blog. I will write entries that explore history through the telling of stories. Maybe these stories will inspire you to do some research or learn more about American History. Maybe they'll get you to think about history in a new way. Maybe they'll make you want to read a new book. They will definitely help me to discover new and interesting things about the country I live in and the people who make it great! Enjoy.
